“Crowds in New York move in straight lines, but I have to perform like a hula hoop dancer, looking, hunting for that one photo, the perfect contrast, the strong daylight against the harsh shadows at the perfect distance. Sometimes I have to vanish in the crowd , then I have to present myself in order to provoke a glimpse of recognition or surprise.”
